"Niseko - Asia’s best kept secret"
Situated in Hokkaido, the most northerly of Japan’s islands, Niseko, the once ‘locals-only’ snow town is now being heralded as one of Asia’s foremost resort locations and one of the world’s finest ski destinations.
Famous for its breathtaking nature and world class powder snow, over the past 5 years, Niseko has experienced massive growth. Figures speak for themselves, with annual international tourist numbers increasing 14 fold from the period 2002 to 2006*
Niseko’s fame stemmed from its endless showers of feather-like powder snow, however in recent years, the charm of its springs, summers and autumns have been slowly discovered, as it evolves into one of Asia’s premier all year round destinations.

“There are many international class skiing resorts in Hokkaido, but perhaps none to rival Hirafu-Niseko”
Michiru Yoshino, The Japan Times.
World class powder snow is what Niseko is famous for. Designated as a ‘Heavy Snowfall Region’ within Japan, each winter is blessed with an abundance of feather-light snow, carried in by the Siberian frontal systems.
Outperforming its counterparts, Niseko’s annual average snowfall records in at fifteen metres, surpassing Whistler, Canada by six metres and Australia by twelve metres. Home to a total of seven ski resorts and possibly three of Asia Pacific’s finest, tens of thousands of visitors come to experience its dream-like powder each year.
In 2006, “Niseko United” was established, combining four of Niseko’s top ski resorts, Annupuri, Higashiyama, Hirafu and Hanazono. Offering a combined 47km of runs, it facilitates all needs with a balanced mix of courses and everything from adrenalin pumping terrain parks and half pipes to groomed runs, mogul courses, ski schools and infant ski play areas. It also hosts a number of big air and technical competitions throughout the season.
Transport to and from the area is convenient, with complimentary ski-shuttle buses covering the large majority of Hirafu village, operating from first to last lifts. For a premier resort, accommodation, services and lift tickets are inexpensive, with one-day passes at a mere 4,800 Yen (approx $47 AUD) in comparison to Australia’s, Perisher resort at AUD $95 (approx 9,700 yen) and Canada’s Whistler/Blackcomb at CAD $79 (approx 9,000 yen).
Not enough can be said about Niseko’s winters, and we welcome you to come and experience the “winter wonderland” for yourself.

"Niseko, nature’s ultimate playground"
The charm of Niseko’s three seasons lie in its amazing nature and mild climate. Set amid hectares of lush forests, golf courses and crystal clear rivers, it is the perfect setting for a summer resort.
Calm or energetic, Niseko has the activity to match the pace. Hiking, mountain biking, fishing, rafting and kayaking will entertain the adventurous while golfing, fishing, unwinding in a natural hot spring, or just gazing at the mountain ranges will soothe any soul.
In spring, the water levels of the 126 km Shiribetsu River rise significantly due to the melting snow, which has made white water rafting a trademark water sport and booming business within the region.
Summers are cool and humidity is low, while Autumns are renowned for the magical transformation of its lush, green forests into amazing blends of rich reds, yellows and oranges.
Niseko’s non-winter market has been expanding rapidly, with strong growth amongst the Asian sector, particularly Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Greater China. Accommodation based figures show over 900% growth in international tourist figures from 2005 to 2006*. Add this to the thriving domestic market and there is no question to the great potential Niseko holds.
